LIVING QUARTERS OF PORVOO

Typologi: Mulighetsstudie med brukermedvirkning Sted: Borgå, Finland År: 2017 Oppdragsgiver: Borgå by Samarbeidspartnere: Mikaela Neuvo, arkitekt

Typology: Participatory planning and feasibility study Location: Borgå, Finland Year: 2017 Commissioner: City of Porvoo Collaborators: Mikaela Neuvo, architect

The Living Quarters of Porvoo is based on a participatory workshop followed by a feasibility study on how to transform the centre of Porvoo into a thriving urban environment.

The project reorganises a large empty space, today used for parking, and introduces a new type of urban living with social meeting places to activate the area. A new streetscape for soft mobility improves connectivity. Apartments are integrated with roof- and allotment gardens, and the green environment introduces new common arenas for social interaction and sharing.

The project is a collaboration with Uusi Kaupunki collective.
